BASIC INFO

Character Name: Harry James Potter
Nicknames: Potter, Scar-head, the Chosen One etc...
Age: 20
Date of Birth: July 31, 1980
Played By: Daniel Radcliffe

APPEARANCE

Eye Colour: Green.
Hair Colour: Black.
Height/Build: 6'0"/lean.
Physical Description: Harry is most commonly described as looking "exactly like his father... except for the eyes, he has his mother’s eyes." Harry is quite tall and has maintained a slight build ever since his childhood days (possibly due to being underfed, neglected and bullied). His perpetually untidy (though not dirty) mop of jet black hair has often been a source of great exasperation to him, and he regularly makes complaints about his inability to tame it. His eyes, a brilliant green, are shielded by a pair of round-rimmed glasses that he is very rarely seen without. However, Harry’s most distinctive feature comes in the form of a lightning-shaped scar that resides on his forehead.

BACKGROUND

Family: His father, James, has recently been brought back from the dead through experimentation of the Resurrection Stone. His mother remains deceased. He is currently in a serious relationship with Ginny Weasley. They live together, along with his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. He has maintained a close relationship with the Weasley family and is in contact with several of his past school friends and teachers. He has maintained a distant, albeit strained relationship with his biological aunt (and uncle), but is on far better terms with his cousin Dudley. They keep in semi-regular contact through letters and holiday cards.
Pets: A tawny, brown owl named Nutmeg, which he shares with his girlfriend Ginny Weasley.
Wand: Made of holly, 11 inches long, contains a single feather from the tail of a phoenix (which happens to be Fawkes).
House: Gryffindor.
Blood Status: Half-blood.
Occupation: In training to be an Auror.
Living Conditions: Almost immediately following the Battle of Hogwarts in May 1998, Harry set out to restore his childhood home in Godrics Hollow. He was generously compensated for his efforts in the Second Wizarding War by the Ministry of Magic, and used a sizable amount of that money to rebuild his property, and in doing so, ensured that it met the needs and comforts of the three people that would be moving in with him the following year: Ginny, Ron and Hermione. While the restorations took the better part of a year to be completed, Harry was obligated to find alternative living arrangements, and opted to live at 12 Grimmauld Place – the former home of his godfather, Sirius Black. He also considered renovating that property, but never set plans in motion.
In short: Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Harry all live together in Godrics Hollow, in relative peace and harmony.

Education/Training: Harry attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for 6 years (1991 – 1997) but never completed his N.E.W.T. examinations. His O.W.L. results, however, are as follows:

O.W.L.s
AstronomyA
Care of Magical CreaturesE
CharmsE
Defence Against the Dark ArtsO
DivinationP
HerbologyE
History of MagicD
PotionsE
TransfigurationE

He achieved 7 O.W.L.s, in total.

First Impression: Boy who lived.
Personality: The years following the Battle of Hogwarts have taught Harry a lot in the way of patience. While he still retains that characteristic hot-headedness, and can occasionally be reckless, he has settled down for the most part, and uses a lot of time to reflect on the past. He enjoys time by himself more than ever, and has become even more apathetic towards the general press and trivial articles that are written about him. He tries to stay oblivious to it all, in a sense.
However, his father’s return from the dead, whist inspiring a great deal of joy in him, has also evoked some serious confusion. James is hardly any older than Harry, which throws the whole dynamic of being a ‘father figure’ into question. Their relationship will most likely result in interesting changes for Harry, though their time as captives in the Death Eater camp has obviously not left them much time to explore it.
Weaknesses: Harry has a decided lack of emotional control. He is ruled by his emotions, and has difficulty removing himself from situations so as to view them objectively. This quality, coupled with his inherent impulsive tendencies, often cause him to “act first, think later”, which can inadvertently lead to placing his friends in danger, despite his best intentions. He also has a habit of distancing (and by extension, hurting) those who are close to him, for fear that that they will be targeted should they stand by him. This correlates with his more stubborn/pig-headed characteristics, which often cause him to take the weight of the world on his shoulders and refuse help from others.
Strengths: Courage is a profound trait in Harry. His fierce determination and will to do the right thing invariably lead him to put his life at risk for those he loves. He is staunchly loyal to his friends and keeps himself well-grounded, in spite of his overwhelming fan-base. He is generous, kind-hearted, and is never quick to judge or hold grudges against people, even if they have wronged him.
Likes: Wizard’s chess. Playing seeker (or any position) in Quidditch. Butterbeer. Ginny Weasley. Spending time with close friends. Visiting his parents graves (pre Resurrection Stone). Getting to know the locals of Godrics Hollow. Popping into Hogwarts/Hogsmead/Ministry of Magic/The Burrow every now and then.
Dislikes: Attention. People being trampled on. Bullies. Death Eaters. Sycophants. Draco Malfoy. Prejudice against muggle-borns. Paparazzi. Rita Skeeter. Dolores Umbridge. People who believe everything they read.
History: See books 1 – 7.

WRITING SAMPLE

Harry swore loudly as several things happened in quick succession; the side table swayed dangerously as his foot made contact with it, the pain immediately ripped through this toe as he stretched out to catch then vase in midair, just barely grasping it with his fingertips. He breathed a sigh of relief as he righted himself, placing the vase back on the table before hobbling over to the nearest chair in the living room, grumbling under his breath all the way. He knew she had meant well, placing the new table near the front door. She had put forth a strong argument for its placement, and as always, he conceded to her wishes. "It’ll give everyone a nice surprise as they walk in, don’t you think? A burst of colour and a lovely smell, to boot!" Yeah, a great surprise... and a nice pain in the big bloody toe, Harry thought savagely.

He sighed, nursing his foot in his lap as the dull throb gradually receded, the blood pulsing slower, returning to normal. He let his eyes fall upon the mantelpiece to his left which held a vast collection of photographs, the subjects all smiling out at him and waving happily. Ron, Hermione, the Weasley’s, his parents... And Ginny. Always Ginny. He was unconscious of the smile that rose to his lips – and the fact that the pain in his foot was instantly forgotten – while he gazed at the photo taken on his last birthday.

They were sitting at a table specially laid out on the Weasley’s lawn. Lights (or perhaps fairies, he couldn’t remember which) were strung out over their heads, casting a gentle glow over the scene. Ron sat to the far left, Hermione to his right, swatting his hands testily as he attempted to snatch a bread roll from her plate when she wasn’t looking. Then came Ginny and Harry, his arm slung lightly over her pale shoulders as they talked quietly, appearing utterly content.

He would never be able to express how grateful he was for the three of them. Their enduring patience and unswerving loyalty had forever altered the boy who once used to live in a dusty closet under the stairs of his childhood home. Those days seemed almost comical to him now; the fear his bullying uncle had once inspired was long since buried in the past, before the days of Hogwarts, before the days of Ron, Hermione and Ginny... before the final demise of Voldemort, and the bloody battle that had ensued two years ago. Harry thought of that night often. Images would come to him, unbidden, in the dark hours of the morning, as he lay next to a peacefully sleeping Ginny. He remembered, with startling clarity, the blind hate and fear in Tom Riddle’s soulless eyes as they faced each other for the last time. He dwelled on the deaths of his friends; people he had thought of as family, people who deserved better than to be casualties, mere statistics in the crass death tolls of a senseless war. He thought of families that would never be the same, marred by a grief and bitterness others couldn’t even begin to imagine. But sleep would claim him eventually, and he would hold Ginny all the more firmly as he slipped into unconsciousness, relieved, at last, of his dark musings.

Harry grinned at a now bickering Ron and Hermione in the photograph – he had succeeded in winning her bread roll, only to have her perform a vanishing spell on his entire plate of food – before slowly rising from his chair to test his weight on the injured foot. It was bearable. He smiled grimly as he imagined Ron’s reaction upon hearing of the unfortunate injury; the bellowing laughter and playful ribbing would no doubt last the remainder of the week. "Famous Harry Potter; the darkest wizard of our time couldn’t finish him off, but a coffee table just might just do the trick."
